Magarpatta City celebrated its Foundation Day

The concept of Magarpatta City (www.magarpattacity.com) was not only to make homes and office space on the ‘Walk to work, walk to school, and walk to recreation’ but also to create a new vibrant community. With zeal to promote a harmonious and sustainable community living, a novel initiative has been undertaken for active participation of the residents – ‘The Magarpatta City Council’. Its objectives being Magarpatta Citizen-centric, the working of the Magarpatta City Council is very democratic and for every hundred units there is one representative on the Magarpatta City Council for its period of tenure of two years. It has all unit holders as members by default with a very active role played by women in this council.

Magarpatta City Foundation contributes to Lila Poonawala Founation:

‘Magarpatta City Foundation’ of the Magarpatta City Council residents in a humble philanthropic move contributed to ‘The Lila Poonawalla Foundation’ which grants scholarships to financially deserving and academically outstanding girl students who are domicile of Pune & Pune District, Rupees Five Lakhs towards this noble cause. The cheque was handed over to Ms. Lila Poonawalla, founder trustee - The Lila Poonawalla Foundation’ by Mrs. Rajlaxmi Bhosale, ex. Mayor of Pune on behalf of the ‘Magarpatta City Foundation’. This was done on the occasion of the Foundation Day at Magarpatta City on 3rd December, 2010. This is a practice now being established for the future years to come, to endorse and support such philanthropic and human interest initiatives.

On the occasion Col. Anil Kakade was honored with the Pride of Magarpatta City award - recognition honored annually to a resident of Magarpatta City for an outstanding contribution. For his exemplary bravery while fighting in Jammu & Kashmir he has been awarded the Sena medal by the President of India. The award was conferred to him at the hands of Mr. B.G. Deshmukh, former Cabinet Secretary in the Government of India.

Magarpatta City celebrated its Foundation Day at Magarpatta City with over twenty thousand residents, who enjoyed a memorable performance at a live concert by Pritam – the master composer.

Committees in the Magarpatta City Council i.e. Cultural, Sports, Training, Social & Health, Upkeep, Update & Website contribute to strengthen social ties by means of activities for environmental upkeep & awareness amongst Magarpatta Citizens. Competitive sports, games, chess tournaments, dance classes, dramas, blood donation, educational, financial, health training, yoga camps, etc. are conducted regularly to encourage and promote a sense of belonging and sharing amongst the fraternity.
