Great infrastructure, encouraging policy framework, supportive administration, good availability of resources all this may make a place an investment destination, but the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MCCIA) wants to add a socio-cultural dimension to the process of selection (by overseas investors) of a place to set up business.With this in mind the industry body has planned a week-long programme Pune Unplugged' for city's expatriate managers and businessmen that will give them an experience of Pune's hospitality, culture, cuisine, local arts and its social fabric.
The MCCIA's expat week, to be celebrated from November 16 to 22, promises a slice of Indian and Maharashtrian culture, art and cuisine to the foreigners in the city.
There are about 1,600 expat families in the city with an estimated expat population of about 5,000 people. Most expat families are German with the presence of nearly 400 businesses which have German ownership or are joint ventures with German counterparts.
