Ring roadMeanwhile, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Thursday held a meeting to discuss development activities, including the possibility of an outer ring road.
The representatives from the city urged for speedy formation of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) for the planned development of the city.
Since any civic body cannot incur the expenses for construction of a ring road, it was decided that the project should be implemented by PMRDA.
Three options for raising funds were discussed. These included allowing two floor space index for infrastructure development alongside the road while the second option was funding by PMC, PCMC and the state government. The third option of implementing the project through town planning scheme was in principle agreed upon.
