My Favorite Shopping Malls in Pune

Mall Walking:

Where did you do your Diwali Shopping? Did you hangout in one of the recently opened shopping malls in Pune? Which one is your favorite? Phoenix Market City on Nagar Road, Kumar Pacific on Shankar Sheth Road or Amanora Town Centre on Hadapsar Kharadi Road?

Sorry, i can't ask you more than this! My doctor should have prescribed 'Shopping Therapy', but he only recommended 'Mall Walking'.

At the end of the session, when i complained about the treatment, my doctor said, "Ravi, you need to see a psychotherapist. Not 'shopping' - only 'mall walking' - is a sort of 'disorder'. When did you do it last time?"

"I have to ask my wife! You know, i was not well... so..for a while... i was not in position to do many things," i said.

You were well. So, for sure, you must have done it. More number of times. For longer periods. Than me. So, please, share your experiences. Tell me which is your favorite shopping mall in Pune.

Certainly, i liked Phoenix Market City's (www.phoenixmarketcity.in) 420 feet frontage on Nagar Road. Though the 8 lane road doesn't have street lights and pavements on the both sides. It gave me hope that Wakad can have a mall & multiplex before the roads are ready!

I enjoyed the shape of the mall, efficient elevators - escalators and moving walkways and spaces with sitting arrangements in Phoenix Market City. Yes, and, of course, food! You know? I was tempted to try M. O. D. - Mad Over Donuts! But i didn't. Because, i fell for the shoppers!

I had a great time at Phoenix Market City. It was interesting to watch the couples with one of the partners completely turned on! For me, at site - it would have been the right time to fill the property booking form.

I loved the natural Sunlight in Kumar Pacific Mall. Because of the natural Sunlight coming from the roof, i felt that the space inside the mall is as good as the space in front of the mall. Not only that. I ignored the ugly elevator at the center of the lounge!

Like Phoenix Market City and Amanora Town Centre, multiplex in Kumar Pacific is not yet ready. But unlike other malls, almost all shops in Kumar Pacific are booked and may open in a few months.

I loved Hyper City (www.hypercityindia.com), one of the anchor brands of Kumar Pacific. In well laid out Hyper City, i didn't feel like i am in the godown of a wholesaler or in a Big Bazzar or in the Bhori-Ali in Pune!

After visiting the meat section of Hyper City, i decided to start cooking and eating fish. I haven't seen such a clean place where you can get fresh, as well as, ready to eat / cook, fish & meat.

Because, i have a soft corner for Kumar Properties and a lot of curiosity about Property Zone (www.propertyzoneindia.com) - who is leasing & managing Kumar Pacific - i walked a few more steps than my doctor has prescribed. Result is, i found one of the best rest-rooms in Pune.

Amanora Town Centre, Hadapsar Kharadi Road, Pune 411 028:

I never liked the elevation of Amanora Town Centre (www.towncentreamanora.com) Mall. But, yesterday, i realized that it's the best! True, it's not contemporary. And looks completely odd - in the futuristic Amanora Park Town. But, yesterday, i felt that, the old world charm of the traditional architecture contributes in creating trust and reliably about the mall. You feel that - you are visiting a shop which is in business for years!

At this point of time, actually, out of the two shopping blocks in Amanora Town Centre, only one blok - "West Blok", Promenade - open to sky connecting street between the two bloks and Oasis - open dining and entertainment space - around the water body and music fountains - between the two bloks , are open. But, it's enough to give you an idea about the entire 2 million sq.ft. Amanora Town Centre - where almost 50,000 shopper can hang out for a complete day.

Now, while writing this blog, i realized that - though i didn't perform - i was not completely frigid! I was aroused when i visited Crossword Book Store. I was turned on when i saw L G Smart TV in Home Town. I had a coffee at Costa - and tried my best to convince that not the Net Amount Rs. 84/- but the address on the bill - Amanora, Village Sadesatranali (17 - 1/2 Nali), Hadapsar, Taluka Haveli, District Pune - 411 028 - made me LMAO!

By accusing me for not shopping, i felt that, my doctor was only creating performance anxiety in my mind. Instead of visiting the psychotherapist, my wife said, we will go for shopping. "Out of these 3 malls, which one is your favorite?," she asked. "Shopping is like making love! Agree?," i asked her. "Yes!," she said. "Then why not try all possible ways?," i said. What say you? Do you agree with me?

  5. Stores are designed to make you go through a long walk to reach for your most basic items. Reason — you can tricked into buying what you don’t really need. Most basic commodities are found towards the end of the store. So, the next time you go shopping, you could skip the other outlets and move towards your destination. Lower priced products are placed at the lower levels – not at eye-catching levels!

    Choose unbranded goods :
There is a huge cost difference between a branded product and an unbranded one. Even in case of ‘expensive’ items like dry-fruits, if you buy it from a wholesale-retail shop you will find a 20 per cent price difference. Some branded foods like cornflakes, are more expensive than dry fruits on a per kilogram basis. If you thought potatoes were selling at Rs 18 a kg, you are correct, but when it gets converted to branded chips, it becomes a little expensive, about Rs 350 a kg!
