Sajag Nagrik Manch has strongly opposed the proposed amendment in rules by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) in which the company has sought to appoint retired senior officials of the MSEDCL for the post of chairperson of the Consumers Grievances Redressal Forum (CGRF)Sajag Nagrik Manch, in a letter sent to the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC), has said that the current composition of the CGRF is balanced as one member represents consumers, the second represents MSEDCL, while the chairperson is neutral.
The manch said because of the proposed amendment, if two persons from MSEDCL background are allowed on CGRF, it may drift the equilibrium and will deprive consumers of the principles of natural justice. The only body which exists for consumers for fast redressal of complaints may thus loose its effectivity, the manch said.
