Get lifts checked regularly

“It is important that owners of the office or residential complexes ensure that the periodic maintenance of elevators installed is carried out. It is not practically feasible for people to depend on the builders (read this comment) to undertake the maintenance work since his responsibility gets over after installing the elevator. This will help in preventing any mishap,” Fire Brigade assistant divisional officer, Prashant Ranpise told Sakaal Times.

Factors like Power failure, improper closing of door, improper handling could all contribute towards malfunctioning of elevators.“Lifts installed have certificate of permission from electrical inspector PWD (Lifts) regarding its usage. There are also norms like total number of people and weight allowed in a certain lift. These instructions must be adhered to. Also, get the liftroom inspected by authorities periodically,” Ranpise said. To read more, please, visit - sakaaltimes
