Power tariff goes up by 35 paise per unit

From December 2009, consumers will have brace themselves for yet another electricity tariff hike of 35 paise per unit, as the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (Merc) on Thursday allowed the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) to recover Rs 785.90 crore to meet the additional recovery demand made by Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt Ltd (RGPPL, Dabhol, the erstwhile Enron).
