Could the Weak US Housing Market Hurt Google?

According to investment fund Oppenheimer, financial services ads accounted for about 10% of Google’s total revenue in 2006, while mortgage-related services accounted for 3.3%. For a company on track to do more than $10 billion in revenue this year, that’s a pretty sizable amount of money that could be in play should advertisers tighten up. . .

The top 20 'meanest' U.S. cities

The top 20 meanest cities were chosen based on the number of anti-homeless laws in the city, the enforcement of those laws and severities of penalties, the general political climate toward homeless people in the city, local advocate support for the meanest designation, the city’s history of criminalization measures, and criminalization legislation.

The School of Hard Work Or Habituated Hand-Outs?

After signing the ‘American Dream Downpayment Act of 2003’ Bush added, “We want people to be fully aware of what it means to buy a home and what it takes”. The contradiction, if otherwise unclear, was that the President was signing a law that gave free money to those who could not afford to buy a home, and then he planned to educate.about the hard work, savings, and planning that is required to buy a home.

With Wall Street packaging and selling mortgage reset time bombs, rating agencies dolling out A's first and asking questions never, and many homeowners essentially signing future default notices before their new home purchases were finalized.

Bush's efforts at expanding homeownership since 2003 have gone unnoticed as the subprime debacle widens. Unfortunately, so have the costs of funding Bush's homeownership initiatives.

What should not remain unnoticed is the irony of it all: near the height of the housing boom Bush wanted to do everything he could to boost already record high homeownership rates, but now, as the boom turns to bust, Bush is eying a plethora of emergency policy moves to simply try and keep ownership rates stable.

You can not help but wonder whether or not many Americans would have been better off if Bush simply left the mortgage market alone.

In the next couple of months Glomac is launching it's 12-hectare mixed development township in Pune

On its overseas ventures,Datuk Fateh Iskandar Mohamed Mansor, Glomac Bhd group managing director said, it was still undertaking a due diligence exercise on a proposed 12-hectare mixed development township in Pune, India, which is estimated to have a gross development value of RM750 million.

“Hopefully, it (the due diligence) will be finished in the next couple of months; if everything is okay, we (?) hope to make announcement then,” he said.

Glomac posted a net profit of RM32.19 million on the back of revenue totalling RM293.26 million in FY07.

Glomac traces its corporate history back to 1988, when the two entrepreneurs and founders of the group, Tan Sri Dato' FD Mansor and Datuk Richard Fong, joined forces to start Glomac.

The company started on a modest scale with the development of Taman Jasa Utama in Selayang in 1988 and has since expanded significantly to become a group comprising more than 30 subsidiaries, with involvement in every facet of the real estate business encompassing property development, property investment, construction, and property management. Despite this seeming diversity in business activity, Glomac remains focused solely on the property industry, leveraging on its experience and expertise in the sector.

To date, Glomac has successfully completed more than 9,000 residential and commercial units with a total sales value of around RM2 billion, as well as approximately 5 million square feet of commercial space with total a sales value of about RM1billion.

FDI: Farmers' Direct Investment

IT is a township that is attempting to redefine the FDI acronym. It is not about foreign direct investment rather it should be read as ‘Farmers’ Direct Investment’ — making farmers stakeholders instead of getting into conflict with them over land acquisition seems to be the maxim of this model.

That is how Satish Magar, one of the chief promoters of the successful Magarpatta Township Development and Construction Company (MTDCC), wants it to be seen. The Magarpatta model, where farmers pooled their land to promote the Magarpatta City project, is being replicated again in the district.
