If things go according to the Pune Municipal Corporation's City Improvement Committee's parking policy....

1. You will have to pay 2 lakh + for the reserved car parking to park your 'Ratan Tata's 1 lakh car'.

2. Instead of modular kitchen or pre-furnished flat, special offer will be 'free car' with the parking for the first few bookings - you lucky early birds.

3. Bajaj Auto will redevelop it's defunct Akurdi factory and construct first Parking Mall in India for it's "Renault 4 Wheeler Rickshaw Taxis"

4. Traffic police will stop toeing cars parked in the NO PARKING zones and instead of that will start charging fine if you drive around the multiplex or mall more than 7 times in an hour searching the parking space.

5. You will be happy to keep your 'Ratan Tata's 1 Lakh Car' parked in your reserved car park at home and cycle to work

City road projects likely to get a leg up

THE Rs 1,700-crore Integrated Road Development Project (IRDP) for Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad first envisioned in 2004, and stuck for long for a variety of reasons — divergent political views, inability of the local civic bodies to pay their dues — may soon get all obstacles cleared.

The University flyover was finally inaugurated by freedom fighters Vishnu Narhari Golawane and wife Sheela on Friday. They had participated in the 1942 Quit India movement. RR Parkon to take up 100 parking projects in India

RR Parkon, a member of the Mumbai-based Rs 1,500-crore Ram Ratna Group, will be signing up 100 projects over the next one year across the country for its multi-level parking solutions, manufactured in technical collaboration with South Korean engineering company Dae Jin.

The multi-level parking system ranges from a two-car unit, ideal for individual residences, to a 50-car module for shopping malls and commercial complexes. What would be the parking charges?

The PMC project which will operate on a build-operate-transfer basis, allows the parking of 80 cars in two towers of 20 levels each. If the cost of the system is so much then what would be the parking charges?

Hike the development charges for townships!

The amount raised through such hike ought to be utilized for basic infrastructure facilities like roads, sanitation and water supply. While townships and housing and commercial projects do benefit cities, it also put an extra burden on local self-governing bodies and the state, primarily responsible for providing basic infrastructure. The revenue collected from the prevailing development charge is grossly insufficient when compared to the investment that the civic bodies have to make for ensuring basic infrastructure to new projects.

At Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) where promoters and developers, driven by some latest income-tax benefit, made a beeline in the last three to four months for getting their projects approved. The PMC earned Rs 200 crore through development charges but it will have to spend Rs 700 crore for providing infrastructure facilities to these projects!........Pawar for hike in development charges-Pune-Cities-The Times of India

Pune Municipal Corporation goes online

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has promised under its citizen-friendly initiative in association with the Citizens’ Empowerment Forum (CEF).Complaints related to roads, water-logging, uneven manholes or choked drains can be reported on the website.
Municipal commissioner Pravinsinh Pardeshi said complaints registered on the website will be transferred to the concerned junior engineers and contractors via SMS.

Action will be taken within 72 hours of registering the complaint and if it is not attended to, the lapse will be informed to the head of the concerned department. The CEF will constantly monitor the website and keep track of whether the PMC is resolving problems.....PMC goes online-Pune-Cities-The Times of India

Illegal structures face PMC hammer -- The Times of India

PUNE: Municipal commissioner Pravinsinh Pardeshi has declared a crack down on illegal constructions, which block the natural flow of water. “We will undertake a drive to pull down all such constructions and initiate criminal action against the guilty,” Pardeshi said.

Varsity flyover: Sena to wait till July 7

Pune, June 22: The Shiv Sena on Friday threatened to storm the flyover segment between University of Pune chowk and Government Polytechnic and forcibly open it for public use as the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) authorities had adopted delay tactics ignoring the plight of the road users.

Defence land transfer proposal to reach Cabinet in 2 months, says army brass

Since the Commonwealth Youth Games is scheduled in 2008 the PMC has decided to take up five projects — widening of Bhau Patil, Alandi, Bibvewadi-Kondhwa, Nagar and Sangamwadi-Sadalbaba Roads — on a priority basis.
