Now Open! Kolte Patil Rice Plate House!!

Are you Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian?:

Kolte Patil serves both!

Vegetarian Rice Plate. Non-Vegetarian Rice Plate.

At the same rate!

But not on the same table.

There is a separate sitting arrangement for Vegetarians & Non Vegetarians.

Yesterday, on 17th July 2015, I visited Kolte Patil Rice Plate House.

It is located near Hubtown Countrywood in Tilekar Nagar, off Katraj Kondhwa Road.

A beautiful young lady welcomed me with a drink.

A shaved head young man gave me the menu.

Kolte Patil Rice Plate House offer 3 types of meals.

"Our meals are as precious as Jewels. So, we call them Three Jewels!," the shaved head young man said.

"Sorry! Did you say 'pricy'?," looking at the menu I said.

"Precious! We serve precious rice plate," the shaved head young man said.

"Sorry? Do mean 'sumptuous'?," I said.

"Not sumptuous. Not pricy. Our speciality is a rice plate. Limited meals. Not full meals," the shaved head young man said and asked, "Are you vegetarian or non vegetarian, Sir?"

"Vegetarian. Daal chawal, daal roti, subji, salad, curds, butter milk & fish. Yes, fish is a must," I said.

"Vegetarians don't eat fish!," the shaved head young man said.

"I will eat fish or fish will eat me. It's none of your business. Take my order. Serve meals hot. Fast! I am starving!!," controlling my anger, I said.

"Meals? No! No!! Meals are not ready!!! Only menu card is ready!!!," the shaved head young man said.

"Then what are you? You are my meal!," grabbing his throat, I said.

He was quite a feast!

If you are my type, do visit Kolte Patil Rice Plate House.

  3. Lol Ravi, what was that !! Appreciate your sense of humor.

Agree with Mr. Sanjay D above, lot of rice plate joints but no eaters....and Mr. Sanjay D, it indeed takes guts to say that when it is coming from a eatery owner himself. Hope CRPDAI (confederation of rice plate delivery association of India) doesn't file FIR against you now ! lol.

If history has taught us anything, chances are eatery will show 'Basmati Rice' but end up delivering 'tukda rice' that too half plate, half cooked and by the time the rice plate is delivered, the person shall already be on saline !

What I have learnt, including from your blog is it is best to order properly cooked, ready to eat fresh rice plate.

  4. I completely agree with you about ready to eat fresh rice plate, TheMonk! Yes, they use only 'tukda rice'. The carpet areas are - 1 BHK - 37.53 sq. mt. (404 sq. ft.), 2 BHK - 58.16 sq. mt. (626 sq.ft.).

  5. Good article Ravi !....After order is given, owners of Rice Plate House have to buy oil (palm vanspati oil), tukda rice Rs. 28/kg, cheap lokvan wheat, old tomatoes and potatoes from whole sale market, Gultekdi with special discount for picking of huge quantity without assessment....and then cook it, fry it and offer it till your hunger increases manifold so that you have no option to eat it without complaints.

  6. The latest Pune rice plate news :

Slowdown hits Pune real estate; unsold inventory reaches 2.8 lakhs

    http://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/slowdown-hits-pune-real-estate-unsold-inventory-reaches-to-2-8-lakhs-115071701045_1.html

And this report is prepared by rice plate eatery owner himself !
Funny part is eatery owners say that price of rice plate won't be reduced......forgetting the fact it is only due to adamant behavior of eatery owners of not respecting taste of buyers that inventory is rising. Fact remains eatery owners are giving discounts but now people are not that hungry since they are waiting for biryaani for the cost of biryaani & not at cost of half cooked tukda rice.
