Flood-lines along rivers Mula, Pavana and Indrayani flowing through Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation are likely to be redrawn!

Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Yogesh Behl said District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, in a meeting convened by him in Mumbai on Tuesday, directed the irrigation officials to consider the average rains and floods in the past 100 years and suggest the floodlines along the three rivers passing through PCMC limits.
Shiv Sena MP Gajanan Babar had alleged that the mayor was spawning a TDR racket by trying to get flood-lines redrawn.

The move has come under fire from activists too, who say, the crores spent on redrawing the flood-lines would go waste. “Over Rs one crore was spent when the PCMC got the irrigation department to redraw the floodlines.

“It seems efforts are on to save land belonging to some bigwigs,” said another activist Deepak Chandekar.

Municipal Commissioner Asheesh Sharma said nothing concrete has emerged in the meeting. "Another meeting has been scheduled in Mumbai next week where a final decision — whether to redraw the floodlines or not — would be taken,” he said. Read More:
