Daund has the potential to become 'Karjat' of Pune..

Now, Daund is going to become Karjat of Pune!

Yes, Nitin is right! In the comment on my post To know more about Tanaji Malusare City at Karjat, please, visit their website www.tmcity.in Nitin said ""Daund has the potential to become 'Karjat' of Pune.. ". To refresh your memory..we were talking about Daund because of the launch of Tanaji Malusure City's 100 acre low cost housing scheme near Karjat, which was going to offer 10,000 flats, of 300 to 500 sq ft in 3 to 7 lakhs, at only Rs. 999 per sq.ft.!

Look what Radheshyam Jadhav writes in his story - Satellite nodes, townships are the answer - published in Times of India:

As an answer to the growing population and dwindling infrastructure in the city, the state government is planning to imitate the Mumbai model in Pune, where people travel to the city to work and return home to satellite nodes and townships.

T.C. Benjamin, principal secretary , state urban development department (Government of Maharashtra), and Member Mumabai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) supports the idea. "Once the connectivity is established, people would happily settle down on the outskirts of the city."

Benjamin says even Mumbai is moving towards developing more satellite nodes. Once the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link, connecting Sewri in Mumbai with Nhava across the creek comes up, it is expected to give a major boost to the satellite townships in areas like Panvel and Nhava Shewa.

Pune already has the comprehensive mobility plan in place, in which various mass transport modes are suggested. The state government has also written to Central Railway for laying sub-urban rail links to Daund, Mulshi and Lonavla.
